Iron and Wine Robinsonville Concert reviews
Show was lukewarm
I was very disappointed with Stanley's management for not taking measures to remove some of the most obnoxious shouters. At times, he seemed confused and even admitted he didn't know how the song he was about to play started. Unfortunately, the heckling from the crowd almost ruined the event for many of us. With the volume of material Iron and Wine has in his repertoire, I only recognized about half of the songs he played. Overall, the acoustics at the Stanley were phenomenal. Perhaps too much time in Morocco is catching up with him. When he returned for an encore, his choice of an Eagles song seemed to send a message, the party was over. As a longtime Iron and Wine fan, I was extremely excited to attend Sunday's concert. Many of the songs seemed very similar, and I was disappointed not to hear many of my own favorites.
Bruno Mars Rules the Universe
Here is the rearranged review with a few words switched:
Iron and his hooligans gave a performance that amazed everyone. I went with a diverse group of individuals, some of whom recognized the brilliance of Iron and Wine but weren't "enthusiasts". His fellow hooligans on the horns would have made Louis Armstrong envious as he sang every key note. If you can get tickets, this is a once-in-a-lifetime experience...go! At one point in the Garden, they had 80,000 people on their feet swaying their arms and dancing. I would have paid just to see him bang on his drums, rock the guitar, or dance. This is a memorable event and ranks second only to my first journey to Europe in my lifetime experiences. After the concert, some of them became "fans," as one 20-something remarked, "If I live to be 100, I will never witness a superior show by a more skilled musician."
Shinedown Never Ever Disappoints
"Iron and Wine is one of my shows ever and I have seen them at least 8 times. This last show I decided to take my 16 year old Daughter to her very first concert and I think its safe to say they are one of her favorite bands as well. I loved watching her on the floor in the crowd singing all the words to every song. The GSR venue is one of my favorites as well. I will see this show every time that it comes to town. It is small enough that you really don't have a bad seat, I was comfortable having my daughter on the floor and knew I could relax enough for both of us to have an amazing time."
maiden killed it
Alice and Iron and Wine on the same bill was awesome, having both. Iron and Wine kicked ass again, the same kind of performance that Alice gave, no endless yapping. No breaks, just one song to the next. The stamina they had, especially at their age, could not be beaten by younger musicians. I could feel the heat from the flash pods. Utterly amazing. From where we were sitting, you could see the sweat pouring out of them. It was very hot that night, how they could stand the heat with all the Pyro they had is beyond me. Bruce was all over the stage, leaping over monitors. It was my son's first metal concert. He is 17 and told me that Iron and Wine was the best concert he has ever seen, he was amazed. We actually got our seats upgraded from lawn to the VIP box seats for free. All I can say is that they gave you your money's worth and then some. He has seen Avenged Sevenfold and some others. I do believe he will be throwing out his rap crap. Alice didn't play long enough. I was hoping to hear more of his older stuff, like unfinished sweet, and so on, but I must say he made the most of the allotted time. One song to the next, unlike a lot of today's musicians where they talk more than play. This was my son's first metal concert. He has seen Avenged Sevenfold and some others. He is 17 and told me that Iron and Wine was the best concert he has ever seen, he was amazed. I do believe he will be throwing out his rap crap. At least that's what he told me after the show. Iron and Wine still rules, and the performance hard to beat, unless of course, you go to a Stones show, then you're in for another treat. Hehehe.
